Rafael Nadal causes a stir in Spain last night as he angers and pleases Madrid fans.

The Spaniard outshines in the sport of Lawn Tennis but associates himself with Real Madrid C.F. as a fan and a member. His surprise appearance last night in a rival stadium may not go down well with ‘Madridistas’ but Atletico de Madrid fans are pleased.

Former world number 1 has been long associated with Real Madrid but last night he was seen in Wanda Metropolitano, the new home stadium of Atletico de Madrid which happens to be the arch-rival of Real Madrid.

The defending champion of Roland Garros was seen wearing a scarf of the home side Atletico de Madrid who played against Arsenal in a Europa League semi-final.

Arsenal was knocked out by Atletico de Madrid who heads to Lyon for the final. Rafael Nadal explained his motives behind supporting a team from Madrid other than Real Madrid against foreign sides as he hopes to see a Spanish final in UEFA Super Cup (where the winner of Champions League plays the winner of Europa League).

“Of course it’d be fantastic to have both Madrid teams in the two European finals.”

Rafael Nadal has a glorious career in Lawn Tennis decorated with every Grand Slam there is to win. The 31-year-old has never shied from admitting his love and admiration for the Spanish club Real Madrid. In 2011 he was made the honorary member of the club, a gesture which has only been experienced by few elites such as Alfredo Di Stefano, Vincente Del Bosque, and Placido Domingo.

The 12 time European Champions also have a lot to thank Nadal as he recommended and played a major role for Real Madrid in signing the young superstar Marco Asensio.

It will be seen by the end of this month is the dream of Rafael Nadal is fulfilled as Real Madrid play Liverpool in the Champions League Final and Atletico de Madrid will face Marseille in the Europa League Final.

The UEFA Super Cup will be played in August after the World Cup and before the start of the new season 2018-19.
