The famous on loan Real Madrid left back, Fabio Coentrao has been modest enough lately. He appealed his national team selectors publicly on social media urging them to consider some other name instead of his.
Coentrao lately has been too harsh on himself as last season he asked Real Madrid to loan him out. He chose Sporting Lisbon as his destination where he expected to get more minutes and regain his confidence.
People are concerned with his low self esteem levels and worry for his wellbeing.
He believed his level of fitness and his current form isn’t up to the level of Real Madrid and volunteered himself to leave until he finds his confidence back again.
Similarly, this time he feels he might be a liability for his national team and has asked to be left out. Though he remains optimistic in future endeavors with Portugal NT.
Here’s what he had to say on his social media account.
Fabio Coentrao has had a track record of injuries which affected his playing time. He got his foot fractured while at loan to Monaco where he played as a Left-Winger.
He did well in his time in the French Ligue 1, before he was out for 6 months. He missed out on the Euro 2016 campaign of Portugal which his national teammates won.
While he admits he will be back to his national team after the World Cup campaign is over. He will be cheering his team as a fan.
Cristiano Ronaldo and company will be looking forward to repeat the Euro 2016 success in Russia.
