The ex-Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has joined the French club PSG on a year-long deal with an option to extend it for one more season. The 40-year-old former World Cup winner is still optimistic of adding the only major trophy he is missing in his cabinet i.e. UEFA Champions League.
As Buffon completed his PSG move, during the same period the name of Cristiano Ronaldo who has helped his Los Blancos side to win 4 UEFA Champions League titles in last 5 years has been linked to a move to the boyhood club of Buffon, Juventus.
The Turin based club is optimistic to land Ronaldo for a reported fee of 120 million euros. The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner had earlier expressed his desire to look for a new club after he won the 3rd consecutive UEFA Champions League title with Real Madrid in Kiev. This prompted for Juventus to make him an offer which as per the rumors has been adored and fascinated by the Portuguese player.
Buffon claims that it will not be a surprise for him if the deal actually takes place and the 33-year-old player and the all-time top scorer of Real Madrid will pull on the striped Jersey of Juventus.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ronaldo at Juventus.”
Buffon claims that Juventus are at the point where they need big names to be playing for their side and for them the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo at such a figure in the times of extortionate market prices is more than commendable.
“It would make me happy because it’s what the Juventus world needs. They have to find new idols and exalt them.”
It was said that Buffon may have been willing to stay if he knew that Ronaldo would possibly be his teammate in Juventus. Though Buffon has denied this and admits he has no regrets for the decision he has made irrespective of what happens in the transfer window.
Gianluigi Buffon also admitted the only botheration or annoyance he has with Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It doesn’t bother me, what bothered me were the two goals he scored in the final and the ones he scored last year. It would be a fantastic advertisement for Italian football.”
The joke of Buffon may actually be put into practice by the commercial industry if the deal is finalized. Cristiano Ronaldo currently enjoys his vacation in Greece with his family as per the posts of his social media profiles. The media outlets in Italy and Spain are confident enough for the move to be completed within this week but there have been no official statements from anyone as of now.
The only official announcement which is anticipated by the fan is either from Real Madrid or Juventus regarding either the contract extension of Ronaldo by Real Madrid or the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo by Juventus.
