The Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema interacted and documented his views on the official website of the Spanish club. The French striker has had a long pre-season as he was not called for his international duty during the FIFA World Cup 2018.

The 30-year-old striker has been working hard during his vacation period and now has joined the team for the pre-season routine.

“So far this pre-season, we’ve been working really hard and putting in some good work. We know that it’s demanding, but it sets us in good stead for the rest of the season.”

Karim Benzema recently won third consecutive UEFA Champions League title with Real Madrid but that has not quenched his thirst for winning more trophies in the upcoming season. The striker also feels motivated enough to improve his stats and enhance his overall work rate.

“We have to keep winning silverware because the target here is always to win things as a team. On a personal level, I’ll be looking to have a better season than I did last time around and continue to etch my name into the club’s history books.”

Karim Benzema who arrived in 2009 along with several other big names such as Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa, etc. now remains the only name at the club from that famous transfer spree after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus earlier this month. Karim claims he joined the club to win silverware and will continue to work hard in order to add more trophies in the cabinet.

“I couldn’t have imagined achieving everything that I have, but I joined this club to win silverware, be a success and achieve a lot of things. I knew that I’d have some tough seasons, but it doesn’t matter because this is the best club in the world. I’m really happy.”

The club legend who played at Real Madrid as a midfielder and later took on the roles of coaching at various tiers in the club had resigned as the head coach of the team after winning 3 back to back UEFA Champions League titles. Real Madrid then signed Julen Lopetegui who has been working with Spanish NT on various tiers. Karim Benzema claims that Lopetegui is developing a more systematic form of play at the club and the players are working hard on adapting to his tactics which hopefully will pay off for the club.

“We know that Lopetegui is a coach who likes his teams to have the ball and play a possession-based game, he also places great emphasis on working hard when we lose the ball and how we press after we’ve given possession away.”

The team will now leave for the United States of America where they will play their pre-season matches against Manchester United, AS Roma, and Juventus from Tuesday onwards. Real Madrid will then prepare to face Atletico de Madrid in their first competitive game of the season for UEFA Super Cup which will take place on 15 August 2018.
