Raul Gonzalez Blanco returns to his home club Real Madrid after completing his coaching diploma, undertakes the job for youth side.

The Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez has returned to his boyhood club as he sets out to take up a new role in coaching. The Spaniard who has been the idol of every Castilla player ever since the day he debuted, completed his diploma of coaching recently along with other notable names such as Xavi Hernandez and Xabi Alonso.

Raul who served the club as a player and an ambassador is now in charge of Real Madrid Cadet B. On Thursday he conducted his first training session at Ciudad Deportiva de Valdebebas.

The man who in his own words claimed ‘Real Madrid is my habitat’ is now set to leave his office job and serve the club as a tactician which he admired to be for a long time. The former Real Madrid captain is looking forward to following the footsteps of Santiago Bernabeu, Vincente Del Bosque, Zinedine Zidane and others who took up several roles within the club and were proven successful with each of them.

As a player, Raul is undoubtedly one of the most beloved club members ever and had scored 323 goals for the Spanish club, the record only second to Cristiano Ronaldo who scored 451 goals. Raul made his debut with the first team at the age of 17 and ever since has been a role model for every Madridista. He is seen as the personified image of the club and its values.

Previously, Raul had stated he would like to take up the role of coaching the first team of Real Madrid, there had been talks of promoting his former teammate Guti Hernandez after the resignation of Zidane but that didn’t work out as Julen Lopetegui was appointed. Though both the former club icons are optimistic to take up the challenge and live up to the expectations of the fans in the days to come.

In his time as a player, Raul won 16 trophies with Real Madrid including 3 UEFA Champions League titles and 6 La Liga titles. The 41-year-old will as started working on to expand this tally as a manager of the club in the foreseeable future.
